It was my 65 th birthday yesterday and I took half a daypaid leave to do something entertaining myself for the day. And I took a walk along the Sumida and visited two bridges and the Edo-Tokyo Museum in Ryogoku being next to Sumou Arena, Kokugikan.
Thefirst bridge I walked across was Yanagibashi Bridge, a pre-war built classical short bridge crossing the Kanda gawa (river) at the point short steps before it joins the Sumida gawa.
Thereare many yakata-bune (houseboat for river cruising over meals and drinks) mooring along the Kanda gawa banks. Their price lists are affixed on the crew sheds say mostly chartered fare, but some sheds run two hours thirty minutes “omnibus” cruises for ¥11,000 per head. (To be continued)
