Shinagawa Shukuba Matsuri festival on this weekend

Shinagawa used to be the first stage of 53 stops of old Tohkaido Edo-Kyoto highway and it had been thriving with walking travelers. As Shinagawa stage was outside of Edo metropolis of the day and it could enjoy a laxer ethical control on adult entertainments which lured Edo people for that purpose as well.

Shinagawa Shukuba (=stage or stop) Matsuri may recreate legacy of this decadent as well as grace Edo era culture from the down to the earth view point.

The venue is not exactly the same place as today’s JR Shinagawa station. Keikyu line’s Kita-Shinagawa, Shin-Banba and Aomono-Yokocho stations are the nearest stations of this festival.
