Australia and Japan mutually respect AEO status granted by each other
Customs and Tariff Bureau Japan announces as under that two customs administrations have agreed to respect Authorized Economic Operators (AEO) certified by respective customs authorities and to provide benefits entitled to those exporters and importers. This scheme is going to be effective from September 25 2019.

Customs Tariff Act:
(Foreign exchange rates used for conversion of currency)
Article 4-7.
In the case where customs value is calculated pursuant to the provision of Articles 4 through 4-6, the conversion into Japanese currency of the value expressed in a foreign currency shall be made on the basis of the foreign exchange rate applicable on the date on which import declaration of the goods concerned is made (or, in the case of calculation of the customs value of goods set forth in item (i) of Article 5 (Special provisions for applicable laws and regulations) of the Customs Act, the date prescribed in the said item).
(2)The foreign exchange rate referred to in the preceding paragraph shall be prescribed by the Ordinance of the Ministry of Finance. (Materials, etc. to be used for calculation of customs value)

WTO Valuation Agreement Article 9
- Where the conversion of currency is necessary for the determination of the customs value, the rate of exchange to be used shall be that duly published by the competent authorities of the country of importation concerned and shall reflect as effectively as possible, in respect of the period covered by each such document of publication, the current value of such currency in commercial transactions in terms of the currency of the country of importation.
- The conversion rate to be used shall be that in effect at the time of exportation or the time of importation, as provided by each Member.

It gets cooler and becomes more suitable season for scraping windows on the sides of skyscrapers. I am an acrophobia and never be able to jump in a vessel hung from the rooftop to do the job.
