My wife and I went a garden in Matsudo city yesterday.
The garden’s name is Tojo-Tei and which locates at ten minute-walk from Matsudo Station on JR Jyoban line which starts from Ueno terminal, and another line that is an extension of Tokyo Metro Chiyoda line also serves up to Matsudo station.
The garden was built by Tokugawa Yoshitake, amember of Tokugawa clan and he attended at Paris Expo in 1867 as the head of Japan’s delegation, in the late 19th century for his retirement retreat.
The garden and the building are modest butmaintained very nicely, and wisterias are their best for admiration (pictured).
No entrance fee is collected for just taking strollthe garden. A small museum displaying his memorabilia and walking inside the house need admission fees and they are 250 yen in total.
The garden is a modest one and it may take onehour for enjoying this small but well maintained space.
