黴が生える季節ではないが、箪笥の中の礼服、ジャケットなどを出して風を通した。礼服などもう着ることはなかろう。

午後、散歩には出たが流行り病が加速していることもあり、小遣いを遣い過ぎであることもあり、モツで一杯を我慢して生協でゴマ煎餅を買って我慢した。先が分かっていれば我慢などしないのだが、まだまだスケベ心が残っている。
1741時から南西の空を睨み、宇宙ステーションの通過を見送る。私の趣味ではないが、付き合えと脅されて寒いベランダに出た。

骨壺という個室に入ったことはないが、病院の個室には大部屋のベッド待ちで入ったことがある。そこが快適かと云えば、ビジネスホテルよりも落ちる。プライバシーとか静かさと云うことなら、四人部屋でもさほど苦にはならなかった。カーテンを引いてしまえば視界は遮断できるし、音がうるさい訳でもない。息を引き取るときは回りに迷惑だろうから個室に入れられるだろうが、それは仕方がないか。

We often think of brain size as the all-encompassing kind of measure of our success and mental superiority as the species, but it's not size so much that's important it turns out. By itself but rather its connectivity of the brain cells of the neurons. So if you compare a slice of a chimpanzee brain, the cortex, thinking part of the brain, and you compare that with the same slice, comparable slice, in our human brain, the difference that we see is not in the number of nerve cells, ???(3)??? They appear as gray when you look at it as a slice of the brain. But rather it in amount of white and white is the connected tissue the ways in which the nerve cells communicate with other nerve cells. And so the big difference in human brain size is due to the amount of connection. Connections between different parts of brain. The connections in the thinking parts of the brain allows us integrate our sensory experiences, motor experiences and our conceptual experiences ???(4)??? imagination, for example.
