(巻三十二)受験子の抜け殻となるチャイム鳴る(岩田桂)

夜中に細君がやってきて、急に不安になったと言う。珍しいことだ。流行り病にかかるのではないかと言う心配スイッチが入ってしまったと言う。そして「明日、お父さんが散歩に着ていった室内着はバイ菌がついているから全部洗濯します。」と怒りだして部屋に戻っていった。
朝になって洗濯物を入れる袋を持ってきたが、その後眠れたようで怒りは治まっていた。気にしないようにしていてもストレスはかかっているのだ。
心配のスイッチ入る寒夜かな(拙句)
午前中に細君は生協に出かけ、私は洗濯物を干した。特に細君とはトラブルもなく口論もなく、少なくとも夕方となった。
土屋賢二先生の『最善の悩み方』
の中に、
「人が悩まないときは二つある。一つはすべて順調だと思っているときだ。もう一つは、せっぱつまったときだ。わたしは毎日せっぱつまっている。悩む余裕がほしいものだ」
という一節と云うかこの雑文の骨子にあたる一節があり、それもそうだなあと共感している。心配もそうなのだろうと分かっちゃいるが、スイッチが入れば苦しむ。
午後は猫詣でと生協での買い物。４匹居るが2匹は飼い猫系ですぐそばまで来る。あとの2匹は苦労猫のようで常に逃げ腰である。茶トラなどはもう少しで手からスナックを食べそうだ。
生協ではカティ・サークを仕入れた。１ヶ月に１本くらいだろうか。酔生夢死ということばがあるが、理想だな。別に名酒でなくても夢死させてくれるならなんでもよい。

Our species is very unusual, in that we have combination that doesn't exist in most animals, certainly not in other Primates. And that is that we live in large groups and we have both parents caring for offsprings. So what is common is either you have animals living in a big group and only mothers care for offsprings, or you have animals living in isolated pairs and both parents care for offsprings. O.K.?

Humans have that this strange combination of living in huge groups and we always have deep feature of our history to live in social groups, and having both parents care for offsprings and that creates a problem of the risk that female will birth offsprings that the father ???(1)??? male and the solution has been to place sexual behaviour outside of the group. That is to have sexual behaviour be something that's done in private, and ???(2)??? people immodest about anything having sexual implications.

And nudity is of course is the first step in sexual behaviour that is exposing some aspects of one's person. That is considered sexual ???(3)???. So cultures have evolved systems that allow people to live in groups and still have both parents investing without ???(4)??? risk of infidelity. Through sexual modesty and nudity, of course, is just a kind of the tip of iceberg when it comes sexual modesty.
