That's an important point, isn't it? You've got all the systems in place, but that doesn't mean you cannot run your own life while you are able to.

0229

That is correct, and I want to be independent as much as possible. And when I got into a mess with a bank quite recently, I was relieved, my family relieved ???(2)??? they would have been contacted by my son who ???(3)??? with the backup system that I have. I have this extra structure to back up my independence, really. When I developed the symptom of dementia, my son persuaded me to buy this app called “Banktivity”. You can pay your bills on line with it. You can track your spending patterns. You can maintain budgets. It will give you reports on anything you like instantaneously as to where you spent your money. And it helped you budgeting and I always know how much money I have in my bank accounts or on my credit cards even as far as the end of next month. And it's such a security to me to know that rather than just hope I've got enough money.

0326

Do you feel the banks, or are ???(4)??? dealing people with this condition, in a proper way or in a good way, do they have to processes to deal with you and your family efficiently?

0337

I have two bank accounts with two different banks, and one of them, because I told them I had dementia, gave me a number of one particular person that I could always contact, could always email them if I got into difficulties, and they would check things for me. And I have that for many years. It was very important to me and helped, but it's been one of the cuts. That's no longer there.

0401

Is there anything from your experience that you suggest that other people to follow if they or members of their family is going through something similar?

0410

We need to be honest with the bank. A lot of people don't like to admit that they have dementia. I hate using the phone and if I do I often end up in tears just cannot manage it. And then it gets annoyed with me. But if they have it on their system I have dementia, they treat me so well, it's lovely. So you need to tell them.
