I went to the tax office to file a tax return. You can file your tax return online, but it's also a good idea to walk along the Nakagawa River near Tateishi once a year.

Arrive at the tax office after 8:30 and get an admission ticket (No. 66). It will be a batch from 9:30, so there will be an hour. I went out to the embankment of Nakagawa, immediately at the back the office, and went down to the promenade along the water's edge, sat on a bench and looked at the river surface underneath, and I was deeply moved.
“The river never stops running, and the water is never the same as before.”

When I returned to the office at around 9:15 and was standing with other old taxpayers in the sunny corner, the roll call of the number started by a tax man and I was guided to the office at 9:25 as the second group of 9:30 batch. As I passed by the reception, I glanced at what number had been given, and it was 414, and the scheduled time was 1:30 pm. After all, whether or not to arrive by 9 o'clock was a critical point.

The declaration is in two stages, and the first stage is preparatory. Three withholding slips were presented as income documents, and spouse's withholding slip, national health insurance premium payment copy, and medical expense statement were presented as deduction items.

An agile female officer shuffled the material and jotted down figures into the primary sheet. Since it is an annual event, you can calculate it yourself, but the medical expense statement is divided into one from November last year to April this year and one from May to October. Since it is written over the years, I have to subtract the amount from last year, means Nov. and Dec. in 2020, but that is troublesome. However, when you think about it, I came to know that themedical expenses in Nov. and Dec. every year had not been deducted for years. Next year, I'll save the receipt of that period and put it in the deduction amount. On the other hand, I was refunded for high medical expenses about $25 from the National Health Insurance and I forgot to declare it. It can be said that the claimed amount of deduction could be logically excessive.

Anyway, I will move to the declaration room with the documents arranged by the agile tax woman.

The data feeding instructor in the second stage is an woman in her 40s and seems to be a part-time worker for this tax return filing month. Her input instruction is perfect, but she took time to determine the medical expenses deduction amount for the previous year and and received the support of the officer proper. The year before last, the total medical expenses and the out-of-pocket amount, were mixed up, and I had to re-reporting. The aunt of this year is also not confident, so I asked for confirmation persistently.

After completing all the input and sending the declaration, the screen informed that I would get a refund of around $50.

At around 10:15, I put out the created documents, posted them, and left the office. There were quite a few people waiting in line outside.
